Hi! I’m Colleen Bridger, MPH, PhD, Founder and CEO of Colleen Bridger Consulting. I started my career in 1990 working with a Migrant Farmworker Clinic in Eastern North Carolina, transitioned to a researcher with international development organizations and North Carolina’s Division of Public Health, led local health departments in NC and San Antonio and even started a non-profit (the Institute for Child Success) in South Carolina. While in San Antonio I also served as an Assistant City Manager overseeing Health, Human Services, Parks and Recreation, Immigration and Equity.
The thing I loved best about all those jobs was problem solving for the common good, so when it came time to start my own consulting company, I decided that would be my full-time focus. While my background is largely public health focused, I’ve found that using a public health approach is incredibly effective in addressing most complex problems.
Some of my recent accomplishments:
- Addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences through the implementation of multi-system Trauma Informed Approaches, including a Trauma Informed Consortium, Training Institute and Certifying Entity
- Leading the City of San Antonio to become the first city in Texas to raise the legal age of sale for tobacco products to 21
- Overseeing the development of the City of San Antonio’s Poverty Report and mitigation strategies
- Serving as the San Antonio/Bexar County Incident Commander for the COVID-19 pandemic
- Leading the development of the City of San Antonio’s Comprehensive Violence Prevention Plan
- Infusing Root Cause Analysis, braided funding, and mitigation strategies into the development of the City of San Antonio’s $750 million COVID-19 Recovery and Resiliency Plan
- Developing the post-pandemic, 5-year, Strategic Growth Plan for the City of San Antonio Metro Health District
- Leading the Bexar County Mental Health gap analysis and strategic planning process
On a personal note, I am an avid hiker and Francophile. I also love gardening, learning new things, traveling and spending time with my granddaughter Eliza.
